  • Experience in the NRETC

    Day 1
Just arrived... Same room with 3 NINAS (malay ah lians). Although, I'm in the same dorm with Michelle, Zuriel, Jessica, Amadea and Christie. I'm alone coz I'm the youngest... Goodness -____- At least I have a room with air-conditioning. Maybe I'll just be a loner that doesn't talk. Teehee.

    Pembukaan - Ibu Maria {Worship}

    Exodus 3:12
    Genesis 1:25-28
    Exodus 5:1
When we come to worship. there is always something to worship. Or in some cases, an object. Now, an object is a non-living thing. So why would you want to worship something made by earth? If it's a God, then it's eternal and powerful. You'll have to praise God himself, not through some object. That's in some religions.
But in a church, we don't. We do not worship the pastor or anything like that. We worship God. There is no image of him, or Jesus, or of Mary, unlike a Catholic church.
For us to know him or communicate, He gave us the bible, the scripture. And He sent us His son, Jesus. (and it's proven that in history, THERE WAS a man named Jesus.)
John 4:22-24 --> "God is Spirit"
He is Spirit. So he cannot be touched, nor can he be mould into an image.
"those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." In some so-called churches, they worhip God, but not in truth. To worship God, you need to worship Him with respect and humbleness. You don't scream your lungs out when you sing and jump here and there in order to praise Him. Are you afraid that He cannot hear you? He's a God. He has ears everywhere.

Listening to a video of Pak Tong now. Jessica on my right, Michelle on my left. The girls in front of both of them are sleeping... Gosh... And they turned out all the lights... goodness...

Session 1 - Pak Stephen Tong

    Psalm 139:1-2, 23-24

    Day 2

    Session 2 - Pak Aiter {What You See & Hear}

    John 1:35-42
    Matthew 17:1-5
    Matthew 13:16-17
    1 John 1:1-3
If you're blind, you can still use yours ears to hear. If you're deaf, you can still use your eyes to see. When man fell into sin, their ears were already deaf to the Word of God.
Most christians have seen and have heard, but they do not understand. What you hear and see everyday effect what you say.
In our century, our generation, we do not get to see miracles like those witnessed by the Israelites (A.K.A. Jews). Even though they saw all those miracles, they still do not believe in Jesus Christ. You need to use both your eyes and ears to evangelise and spread the Word.

    Session 3 - Pak Yadi {God's Calling. To Think & To Discern}

    Romans 6:12-23
People in the dark do not know that they are in the dark (metaphorically). We are blind due to sin and we cannot see what is holy and what is not.
    Romans 12:1-2
We get tricked due to our "blindness".
YOU CANNOT AVOID THINKING. Be transformed by renewing your mind.

    Session 4 - Pak Jimmy

    Exodus 3:1-12
    John 4:23-24
People are so unrational. They choose their God(s) and worship them. Only people whjo seek the one true God will find him. But people who only take what is given unto them, live in the dark.

Session 5 - Pak Stephen Tong

    John 3:1-16
If a church has so many people, like so many worshipers, it doesn't mean that it's a good church. It depends on 5 things that the church should follow:
    1. Back to the right teachings/doctrine
    2. The right doctrine will produce the right teaching & understanding of God
    3. The correct ethical world view
    4. Service for God
    5. Evangelism - Preaching the Gospel
The Book of John in the Bible:
The only book that tells of how God starts by creation and ends at judgement day. The only book that tells the debate of Jesus and the pharisees about christian doctrines.

Session 6 - Pak Stephen Tong
"Only by abandoning your pride, can you gain true knowledge." - Lao Tze
If you were given birth to twice, you'll die once. If you were given birth to once, you'll die twice.
Jesus was born of the flesh and spirit. God's spirit does not live in buildings or places, but it comes down to people who obey him and follow his word.
"Those from Heaven speak of Heavenly things. While the Worldly men speak of Worldly things."
    1 Timothy 2:5
"The Son of Man." It's SINGULAR. So there's only ONE. Not "Sons", not "Daughters", but "Son". All the most important rules and commandss were stated in the Old testament.
The case where Moses put up a snake on his staff, so that people who were bitten by the many snakes would look up at it and be healed. The snake represent Christ. It was despised, just as Christ was depised by the Jews and was hung on the cross, like the snake being hung on the pole. And when the people looked up at them, they were saved, just as Christ saved us from our sins when he died on the cross.

    Day 3

    Ibadah Minggu - Pak Ivan
    John 12:20-36
There are many kinds of "seeing". If you serve him, but your heart is not holy, then what you have done to serve him was of no use. Some people won't believe due to Satus Quo. They think that the religion is unfit for them.
    1. They won't believe. People who believe what they want to believe, do not believe the truth. They only take in what they think is right.
    2. It could also be because they see the people around are doing the same, so they don't want to be different, hence they choose what they want to believe by mere popularity.

    Session 8 - Pak Jeffrey {Who Shall Dwell In Your Holy Place}
    Psalm 15
People born by God would not keep sinning because they have a holy nature. When we sin, we have a guilty feeling because we are holy.
    Romans 7:14
Our natures may be holy, but we can still sin. "Saints that still sin"
We have to "put off" sin, and "put on" holiness. Being born again is a change of status.
We need the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ to get rid of our sins.

    Session 9 - Pak Edward
    Matthews 5:13-16
What do we want to live for? Okay, you're born. You go to school. After you go to school, you get a job. Then you get married. Then you get a family. Then? You get old... and then? you die. If we're just waiting to die, then we're no different form the rest of the world, we're no different from animals and plants. We christians are here to evangelise, and spread the Word of God.

    Session 10 - Pak Stephen Tong {Music Appreciation}
This Jonathan guy was playing a piano duet with another guy. Then we watched an autopsy video which I LOVED!! They took out the heart and stuff. and the BRAIN!! HAhahaha XD

Session 11 - Pak Stephen Tong
God not only sees, but he knows. He sent a representative in our hearts, a conscience. Jesus was also God's one and only begotten son.
    Psalm 22

    Day 4

Kebaktian Padang - Pak Stephen Tong
    2 Corinthians 5:11-15
A lot of people live life to what they want. "What I want to do with my life, it's up to me to decide and take responsibility."
The presence of God is up to whether you believe or not, if you believe that he exists. Do what you like with your life, but remember, you would have to face God to be judged.
"Die to sin." I would no longer be tempted to sin, because I had died to sin. I had died away from sin. Saya harus hidup beserta Kristus, dan mati beserta Kristus.

  • Hmm, went to see the Superheroes exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in the morning. Hehe... it was by Armani I think. Anyhow, they had superheroes like Spiderman, Superman, Wonderwoman, Catwoman, Ironman, Hulk, and the clothings that were inspired by those superheroes. No photography was allowed coz it was a special exhibition. So yeah... thanks to cunning me, I managed to take some shots XP

Then watched some ballet awhile ago by The New York Ballet. Heh... I fell asleep. Due to several reasons.
    1. There wasn't really a fixed play that the ballerinas were trying to perform or portray. So, it was just music and dancing that I didn't really get.
    2. Jetlag. I was pretty sleepy... and the music was sooooo soothing and slow... I fell asleep about once or twice.

So yeah... Hmm, got scolded by the people there during the intermissions and before the show even started. Of course, and beeping electronic devices should not be used during the show. But hello, IT'S DURING THE INTERMISSION -___- And it wasn't like we were taking pictures. My dad was just reading smses, twice... and the little girl next to me was sending a message. AND I WAS JUST LISTENING TO MY IPOD!!! LIKE WTH!! And the way they reprimanded us, the tone I mean, was like so "racist". I dunno, it's like, they didn't say it in a nice way. They just told us off -__- *rolls eyes*

    Stupid.

I really felt like saying,"Tell me to keep my stuff ONE MORE TIME and I'll DEMAND for a REFUND! I paid for this bloody ticket. And it's not like I was usin that device when people are performing. DUMBASS!!"

    Piss me off.

    *sulks*

  • Alpha Life

Wooo!! Joyce and Nat finally managed to successfully drag me into Alpha Life (their band) -___- They've been trying to do that since last year. SIGH. So I guess I'll just be a temporary member, since I can't go rehearse with them that often.

ANYHOW, we're gonna jam up the school funfair next Saturday. We'll be performing the following songs:
    1. Accidentally In Love (Counting Crows)
    2. Keep Holding On (Avril Lavigne)
    3. Always and Forever (Planet Shakers)
    4. Freedom (composed by Joyce herself!!)

They're trying to think of a few more songs to perform. So we're considering:
    1. Tell The World (Hillsong United)
    2. All Star (Smashmouth)
and some other stuff I guess...

I tried singing along to All Star just now using my laptop. And I nearly lost my voice. Coz some parts of the song are SO low for a girl -___- I couldn't reach it. Well, I KINDA could, but then my voice would end up in a whisper kind of thing. So better not take the chance. I'm gonna tell them tmrw not to even consider it man. I can't do it!!

We've got drums (Pearline), keyboards (Yi Jun), electric guitar (Joyce). Vocals: Nat, Marie (for one of em I think), and me now. They're looking for a bassist. I think they've got one already, but no bass guitar. Hahaha... Zong offered to sell him so that he could get a new one. Wahahaha... it was a joke btw.

Hmm... Gonna rehearse this Thursday at Pearline's house I think. It's really near school. So I don't think my mum would mind.

  • My EFL Camp

    Day 1
10-hour long bus ride from school to this cave campsite in Malaysia. Coudln't really sleep because some of my friends were laughing hysterically at the back of the bus. Hahaha... Had lunch somewhere on the way. Then soon, we started driving into the camping area. We reached the cave eventually. It was SO cool! Although, the toilets were pretty far though. They were muddy because everyone wore their shoes in. So yeah... gross...
My tent was SO crammed. 5 people in a 4-men tent. Zenna, Amira, Cherlene, Tin Wei and me. We placed our bags in the 4 corners of the tent and none of us even opened up our sleeping bags. There was also limestone water that kept dripping outside our tent, so our shoes would be covered in tiny drops of water.
Dinner was good... and none of my tent-mates showered that day, so we were pretty smelly. Hahaha... we were waiting till we reached the dorms to shower. We also had the night-walk after dinner. We walked to this Gua Tongkat (some cave) without any lights except for the torches that the guided us there. Then we sat there in dark ness for awhile as groups were leaving the cave one by one with just a candle. They were to walk back to the campsite with just that candle. The wind was pretty strong so when it came to my group's turn, our candle blew out even before were left the cave. Hahaha XD But it was good! because without the candle, we were able to see the road better, and our eyes got used to the darkness. Mine was the clearest, so I led my group the way. We even managed to overtake a group, and they had a candle with them. We were going to overtake another one but we had both reached the campsite already.
We went back to our tents after a short de-brief. It was pretty warm, but at night, the temperature went down alot. My whole tent woke up at 1am in the morning and whispered to each other until it was 2am. Someone in the cave was snoring SOOOOO loud!! O.o It came from one of the teachers' tents... I wonder which... hehehe

    Day 2
HAd this small treasure hunt thing before we went caving. We had to find these poker cards that were placed around the WHOLE huge area. Was pretty fun. Haha... Then we went caving. It... was... FANTASTIC!! SO FUN!! We got to climb through tight holes, climg these rocky stones. We had to slide down steep ground in the sticky mud. Nearly fell to death a few times. On the way to the cave, I got 1 leech bite. When I got back to the campsite and pulled up my track pants for a second time, I found 1 on each leg -___- Then I found out I had another bit but the leech had fallen off already. So I had 4 leech bites in total... amazing... Coz I had the most number of bites.
Had outdoor-cooking for lunch. Maggi mee, sausages, eggs, and sardines (omg... stinks). Had abseiling after lunch. It rained HEAVILY just as we were about to leave for the place. And when it stopped, we started making our way to the top of the wall. It was tiring by the time we got up there, coz it was muddy, and I slipped twice and cut myself against the really sharp stones. It was exciting at first but I started getting nervous when it came to my turn. Coz I saw some people go down before me, and some ended up losing their footing, swinging, and banging aginst the wall (hence the huge cuts on their arms and knees). Luckily, I made it all the way down safely :D
Went to the resort after that. First thing I did was to "chop" the top bunk, unpack, and SHOWER!!!!!! WOOOOOO!!! Then had dinner after that :D After dinner, we assembled at this dunno where and were taught how to tie different knots for the rafting activity the next day.

    Day 3
Slept so soundly the night before. Went for the agro-tour in the morning. We were told about how the oil palm plantation process works. We also took a look at the rubber plantation, and also the coco tree plantations. The guide let us taste the coco seed (chocolate without fermentation yet). We sucked on the seed, and it tasted so good. The taste was really refreshing. It was a cool tour. Lola even managed to keep a baby plant of the oil palm tree.
Had lunch and a really really long break. Played Truth-or-Dare with Lola, VK, Pearline, Haishma, Yi Jun, and Tin Wei. I was dared to do the most disgusting one, coz I'm a pretty daring person. So yeah... I was dared to stick my finger into my nose (they didn't say to dig) and dip it into a cup of grape punch, and drink up the whole thing. I did it... and man, they were all "eeeewww"-ing. Hahahaha... VK was dared to do a catwalk in the canteen. Lola was dared to hold the piece of chicken in her bare hands and walk around the canteen waving them around. Hahahaha XD
Went rafting after that. We had to build our own raft, and I was tying most of the knots in my group (rope burns... ouch). I also went on the raft. Lola nearly caused the whole thing to tip over. However, with teamwork, we managed to keep it balanced and afloat. At one point, we were spinning around in the river. Hahahaha... Had our shower and dinner after that :)
Then we went to the auditorium to learn some weaving using leaves. It was fun because I managed to do mine pretty well, and taught some of my friends on how to do it right... I wonder how I can find those kind of leaves... hmm...

    Day 4
Woke up pretty early coz we had to get ready for the trekking at Taman Negara. It was a 2-hour drive there. The trekking was physically demanding coz it felt like as if I was climbing stairs... Lots and lots of stairs... But it was in the form of earth, mud, wood and roots. We managed to climb all the way to the top of the hill and look at the breath-taking view of the area. It was so beautiful! You could see the clouds, the blue sky, mountains, and so many trees. In the process of leaving the rainforest, we had to go through the canopywalk which was a long plank of wood suspended about 30m-35m from the ground, and supposrted by rope nettings. It was FUN!!! I managed to take a picture of Tin Wei on it. Hahaha...
Then we had our lunch at this sandy area. Lunch was some fish nuggets, a piece of chicken, and a hot dog! So yummy!! Hahaha... Then we were divided into groups of 13, and were told to board the boats for the rapids shooting. The ride was so AWESOME! The boaters would purposely get us wet from head to toe. They were successful of course. We managed to spot some Orand Asli's though. The little kids waved to us from the banks :) They are such adorable children!
Then we went back to Tekam Plantation Resort, had a shower and dinner. Then we had a briefing of what to do next. So we went ahead and prepared for our departure from the resort. Took alot of class photos before we went up in our buses. Left in the buses at about 11pm.

    Day 5
Reached the train station a little after 12am. We were told that teh train would reach at 2.30am. So I played with poker cards with Cherlene, Clarrissa and YX. Then we were told that the train has been delayed till 3.20am. And when it was 3.20am, the train hasn't even arrived yet. It would only reach at 3.45am. So eventually, the train arrived, I was pretty high already... Coz I kept laughing... The train moved off a little after 4am. We all nearly dozed off immediately. Haha... I woke up sometime after 7am... and then I didn't sleep during the rest of the train ride until we reached Singapore.
Then I went home after we returned to school. I went home, scrubbed myself clean, ate lunch, and slept at 4pm... all the way till 8.30pm coz my parents pulled me out of bed to go eat dinner. Haha... I even skipped church... so sleepy *gives a sleepy smile*

Well, I guess this wraps up what my camp was like... I'll post up some pics tomorrow I guess... right now, I wanna edit some of them :)
